Alumni Association

All 3,000 graduates of the MGH Institute are members of its Alumni Association. From the first graduate in 1983 to the most recent graduates of the Class of 2008, the Institute takes pride in its alumni -- serving health care in advanced practice leadership roles from coast-to-coast and around the world.

One of the greatest benefits to participation in the Alumni Association is the opportunity to interact with many outstanding colleagues in the health professions. The combined expertise and knowledge represented by your alumni colleagues worldwide can be a tremendous resource to you.

Interacting with colleagues from different disciplines can add further depth to your professional role, and from each other we can learn new ways to approach and solve problems, to balance our professional and personal roles, and to progress in this changing health care environment.

Alumni find tremendous personal and professional reward by staying involved with the Institute community:

• Providing preceptorships and clinical supervision to current students
• Guest lecturing in classes
• Speaking with prospective students about the Institute
• Mentoring current students
• Implementing significant programs and services for all alumni through the Association.

Formed in September, 1997 by a group of committed alumni and faculty who wanted to develop the relationships amongst alumni and between them and their professional school, the association adopted bylaws and elected board members from among the initial group of volunteers.

Mission

The mission of the Alumni Association is to promote a spirit of fellowship among alumni and to foster a lifelong relationship between alumni and the Institute. To carry out this mission we will:

• Engage a diverse representation of alumni in planning a spectrum of events and programs designed to connect alumni to each other and to the Institute
• Provide a forum for expression of alumni sentiment, address career needs, and promote the health care professions
• Encourage alumni support of the Institute through volunteer efforts and the annual fund appeal with particular emphasis on scholarships
• Augment the student academic and clinical experience, create an understanding of the Alumni Association among the student body, and offer mentorship opportunities to Institute students
• Increase awareness of alumni achievements and accomplishments among Institute constituents
• Strengthen the reputation of the Institute everywhere and advance its mission.

Office of External Relations

The Office of External Relations oversees the alumni affairs, public relations, marketing and fundraising efforts of the MGH Institute. Alumni events, The Graduate newsletter, annual fund appeals and this website are all coordinated through the Office of External Relations. Your comments, ideas and suggestions are welcome at any time.

The MGH Institute maintains all the academic records for Institute graduates as well as alumnae from the MGH School of Nursing, including the Shepard-Gill School of Practical Nursing.

Official (and unofficial) copies of transcripts may be requested by contacting the Registrar's Office, or by downloading and submitting a Transcript Request Form.
